Why doesn't my sound work now that I installed a Phoebe Rocket Deluxe 56k
voice, fax, data modem. The sound chip is a CMI8330. The modem works fine, but
when a sound is played only a chattering sound is heard.
This type of problem would indicate a conflict with the IRQ or Input/Output
range between two devices. The issue in this case was that the sound card and
the modem were both using IRQ 15. Once one of the devices IRQs was changed to an
available one, both device began to function properly.
